Our region is watching for a potential winter storm on Monday, January 6, 2025. Predictions include snow during the morning with snow showers in the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to reach 31F with winds 5 to 10 mph. The chance of snow is 70% with an expected accumulation of 1 to 3 inches.
Closing schools is something we take seriously. Ultimately the safety of students and staff comes first. Due to its importance, we will also work to make the decision as early as possible using all available resources.
When will you make the decision?
We will make decisions as early as possible; ideally the evening before the predicted weather. If it's a tough call, we will decide by 4:00 am the morning of the event and notify the school community.
What about the Board of Education Meetings?
If Collingswood and Oaklyn Public Schools are closed on Monday, January 6, 2025, due to inclement weather, the Collingswood Board of Education Re-organization meeting will be rescheduled to Wednesday, January 8, 2025. Same location - Collingswood HS Café, same time 6:30 pm.
The Oaklyn Board of Education Re-organization Meeting on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 will proceed as scheduled. Same location - Oaklyn Library, same time 6:30 pm.
Where can I get the most accurate information on school closings or changes?
In case of an emergency for a weather-related closing, delay, or early dismissal, the district website will include appropriate information. We will also broadcast it on our social media channels; please be sure to have access to our Facebook feed.
If there is a 2-hour delay, what does that mean for me?
School will start exactly 2 hours after it would normally start. Before Care Programs will also be canceled for that day.
Collingswood Preschool will open at 11:00 am, and instruction begins at 11:10 am. Collingswood Elementary Schools will open at 10:30 am, and instruction starts at 10:40 am. Collingswood Middle and High School will open at 9:50 am, and instruction starts at 10:00 am.
In Oaklyn, all PreK - 5 students should arrive at 10:30 am, and instruction starts at 10:40 am.
