Through listening to the stories of our neighbors, we can connect and explore viewpoints with empathy and take concrete steps toward a more inclusive future.
The Collingswood School District, Community DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Committee, and Collingswood Borough are hosting an event titled "Amplifying Black and Brown Voices". The event is scheduled for Thursday, May 16 at 7:00 pm and will take place at the Collingswood Senior Community Center, located at 30 West Collings Avenue.
The goal is to gather first-hand experiences from historically disenfranchised and underrepresented populations. Panelists will share their lived experiences and perspectives on race and racism. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear directly from Collingswood students, parents, and community members.
We hope that by providing this space and listening to their stories, our community can reflect so that we may begin to heal. We believe that taking steps toward collective reckoning as a community will move us toward taking specific actions to ensure that our Black and Brown neighbors and all members of the Collingswood community are welcome and valued.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Bruce Smith, Collingswood parent, and Community DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) Committee Chair.
This event is free and open to all members of the Collingswood community. Light refreshments will be provided.
